Lenora Jane Estes of Vanity Fair

There are many beautiful, intelligent, and sophisticated women who work in publishing, and I had the great fortune to photograph one of them- the lovely, Lenora Jane Estes. Lenora Jane and Ale married at the Brooklyn Winery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn just a few weeks ago!
Lenora Jane has brought us up-close and personal stories on Nicole Kidman, Marissa Mayer, Monica Lewinsky, and Sharon Tate, among others.
Here are a few of my favorites from her wedding! These were taken with a combination of film and digital cameras, medium format and 35mm.

Anticipation

This photo is of a bride right before her ceremony. She is about to go down the aisle and is taking a quick quiet moment to herself. I love the light coming through her veil, and the beautiful landscape that is surrounding her. This shot was taken at the New York Botanical Garden with my Contax 645, with Portra 400 film.

Erin & Taylor's Wedding in The Knot NY

Erin and Taylor's Connecticut wedding is looking lovely in the latest issue of The Knot NY! This was a bride who shared my love of pink. She wore a blush pink dress, carried pink flowers, sent out pink invitations, and had a pink and white cake. Everything worked beautifully together!

Anna and David's Stylish Gramercy Park Wedding on Style Me Pretty

I loved this bride's whole look from the her adorable pixie cut to her sexy Valentino gown. They even dressed their bulldog, Buddha, for the occasion. This first shot was taken with my antique Rolleiflex, 400 speed black and white film. The rest were shot with my Contax 645.

Woodland Baby Shower in Martha Stewart Living

I remember as a little kid, my mother would get me to eat my meals by sticking little deer figurines on top of my cereal, and pretending there were bugs in my food (yes, I liked that then).  Had I had sugar cookies with ladybugs on them, or grilled cheese in the shape of bunny rabbits, I'm sure I would've gobbled them up! And such is our inspiration in the April issue of Martha Stewart Living, in a woodland-themed baby shower thrown by Darcy Miller, for the magazine's style director, Katie Berry.
Congratulations, Katie!! You'll be making mouse-shaped pancakes for your little one soon enough!

Tartan and Tulle

Here we are at The Winvian in Connecticut, immersing ourselves in a bit of fashion inspiration by Beth Chapman of The White Dress, with event design by Stacie Shea Events. Such a clever combination, Tartan and Tulle! Tradition and girlie-whimsy combined!
I may be the only one, but I have just LOVED how much snow we've had this year! It's soooooo beautiful. I even threw my snowy white dog into this shoot as she seemed thematically appropriate.
These images were shot with a combination of digital and film cameras. See more on Style Me Pretty today! http://www.stylemepretty.com/2014/03/17/tartan-and-tulle-inspiration-shoot/

Methodist Minister fights the Church for Gay Rights

I had the great honor last year of photographing the wedding of Nick Haddad and Tom Ogletree. They had a beautiful, classic NY wedding at the Yale Club, filled with white floral arrangements, gourmet cuisine, and a classic black and white color scheme. Tom's Dad, officiated the wedding and gave a lovely sermon in what was an emotion-filled room.
Soon after, though, Tom's father, a Methodist Minister who spent years as the dean of Yale Divinity School, faced a church trial after for officiating the wedding of his gay son. Read all about the settlement, and the inspiring story of Tom's Dad's fight for gay rights in the NY Times today!
 My favorite quote was this:
“I was inspired,” Dr. Ogletree said. “I actually wasn’t thinking of this as an act of civil disobedience or church disobedience. I was thinking of it as a response to my son.”

Erin & Taylor's Classic New England Wedding on Style Me Pretty

I love a bride who loves pink! This bride had a blush pink Monique dress, pink invitations, pink floral arrangements, a pink cake, and pink shoes! And it was all beautifully executed with the utmost elegance. See the full post on Style Me Pretty today.
The majority of these images were taken with my Contax 645, on Portra 400 speed film, except for the image at the bottom which was shot with a toy Holga with flash, black and white film.

A shout-out to Stacie Shea Events for planning this lovely event!
