I had the great honor last year of photographing the wedding of Nick Haddad and Tom Ogletree. They had a beautiful, classic NY wedding at the Yale Club, filled with white floral arrangements, gourmet cuisine, and a classic black and white color scheme. Tom's Dad, officiated the wedding and gave a lovely sermon in what was an emotion-filled room.
Soon after, though, Tom's father, a Methodist Minister who spent years as the dean of Yale Divinity School, faced a church trial after for officiating the wedding of his gay son. Read all about the settlement, and the inspiring story of Tom's Dad's fight for gay rights in the
NY Times today!
My favorite quote was this:
“I was inspired,” Dr. Ogletree said. “I actually wasn’t thinking of this
as an act of civil disobedience or church disobedience. I was thinking
of it as a response to my son.”
